Learning From Home/Remote Learning

How will school provide Online/Remote Learning?

Long Lawford is committed to providing children with a broad and balanced curriculum either remotely or on school site.  Further resources are available below for a wide range of curriculum subjects.

Some useful home learning resources are on the BBC Bitesize website and from the government at The Oak National Academy.  Once logged into their email, children will also be able to access Purple Mash.  If you are unsure how to access this great learning platform, please email admin2405@welearn365.com and we will do our best to help.

There is a further page of Online Learning resources, which is updated regularly, at the bottom of this page as well as our school Facebook page.

We are all aware of the difficulties with managing screen time - please see the guide below for tips on how to help everyone spend less time in front of the screen.

Phonics

Phonics for EYFS and KS1 is really important.  See a video here about how to pronounce all of the sounds! You can also access phonic reading books at home via Bug Club.  We recommend the CBeebies show Alphablocks, who model correct phoneme pronunciation and great segmenting and blending for early reading!

Reading at home

It is really important to keep reading as much as possible at home.  Reading is the key that unlocks everything in learning.  To inspire and reward regular reading, we enter children into a prize draw each week if they have read at least 3 times that week (either in school or at home).  Children who are drawn are given a Reading Vending Machine token, which they can use to choose a book from.  Please help your child to read as often as possible so that they can be in with a chance to win!

Check out the Rugby Library Facebook page to see what they're doing to support reading.

Additional reading ideas and activities can be found here at the Book Trust.  We link in with the Book Trust regularly as a support to our Power of Reading scheme.  Some wonderful ideas to help put the fun back into reading!

Online Safety

We are aware that children will be using technology a lot to help with their learning. If you have any concerns relating to Online Safety, please contact the school. Alternatively, the CEOP website has lots of information about what to do. Click here to access it!

For further information about Online Safety and safeguarding, please look at our Safeguarding page.
