Pupil Premium

To raise the achievement of all disadvantaged pupils, the government has provided schools with additional funding.  This funding is known as the pupil premium grant.  Schools are required to publish details online each year on how they are using the pupil premium and the impact it is having.

What we expect to see:

We believe outstanding teaching and learning is key to the progress of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.  This remains a consistent and relentless focus.  In addition to this, targeted intervention and support strategies are deployed in order to:

  • Improve levels of attainment and progress;
  • Close attainment gaps relative to school averages;
  • Enhance reading, writing, mathematics and communication skills;
  • Engage and develop learning through a comprehensive extra-curricular provision;

Have a clear focus on all disadvantaged pupils, including those with SEND and more able pupils and support pupils in becoming aspirational, confident and successful learners

Our core aims for Pupil Premium are:

  • To raise the attainment and progress of pupils eligible for pupil premium funding so that their performance compares favourably with non-pupil premium peers.
  • Address inequalities in education of pupils from low-income families and raise attainment of these pupils.

Please see our Pupil Premium strategy policy in the list of policies below.

British Values

At Long Lawford Primary School we look "to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs."

British Values are woven into the whole curriculum and are promoted by all staff at every opportunity.

Equality Objectives

As a school we welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010.  The general duties are to:

  • eliminate discrimination,
  • advance equality of opportunity
  • foster good relations

We understand the principle of the Act and the work needed to ensure that those with protected characteristics are not discriminated against and are given equality of opportunity.

We are committed to ensuring equality of provision throughout the school community. To achieve this, our equality objectives are as follows:

  • To establish effective systems to communicate the school’s equality duties.
  • To ensure that all pupils make good progress including vulnerable.
  • To promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through all appropriate curricular opportunities, with particular reference to issues of equality and diversity.
  • To reduce prejudice and increase understanding of equality through direct teaching across the curriculum.
  • To narrow the gap between boys and girls in reading at Level 5.
  • To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experiences both in and beyond the school.

PE and Sport Funding

In order to improve the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all pupils and engage them in healthy lifestyles, the Government has provided schools with additional funding.  This funding is known as the PE and Sport Grant.

Long Lawford Primary School has long recognised the contribution of PE to not only the physical health and wellbeing of its pupils, but also how PE contributes to the positive mental wellbeing of its pupils. We also acknowledge that a broad, balanced, high quality curriculum and extra-curricular activities have a positive impact on concentration, attitude and achievement.  We are committed to ensure that all pupils receive a minimum of 2 hours of PE per week, delivered by well trained and enthusiastic teachers.

Information regarding how the PE and Sport Grant is used, please see the below spending plan.
