The governors of Long Lawford Primary School have a statutory responsibility for the strategic direction of the school and its finances. In achieving this aim we work closely with the Head Teacher, all the staff, and the Education Authority, and maintain strong links with the Parish Council and other local groups.
The governing body meets at least once a term. We also carry out specific business in two sub committees, the Resources Committee which focuses on finance, staffing and the maintenance of the school buildings and surroundings, and the Performance and Standards Committee which concentrates on curriculum, targets and evaluation.
The governing body consists of 13 members as follows:
Four parent governors
Three LEA appointed governors
Three staff governors
Three community governors
The term of office for each governor is four years, and you will immediately notice that the make up of the governing body reflects the community ethos of the school.
All governors are nominated to the post, and if numbers dictate then elections are held. We do however, encourage and value input from all those connected with the school, especially parents, guardians and the children themselves. It is vital for the governing body to have expertise and input from the staff, and we have decided (for remarkably we do have the choice!) to include the Head Teacher and two other members of staff on the full governing body.
The governors can be contacted through the school office
(we currently have one vacancy for a community governor)
We strive to be ACE governors for an ACE school! |
