The Friends of Long Lawford School (F.O.L.L.S.) is a support group to the school.
We formed in 1998 – just a few mums who realised that school budgets left no room for the treats that can make a difference.
With the help of parents, teachers and the children themselves, we have raised approximately £47,000 so far to provide many items for the school.
Major items like:
• Multi-point CD Players,
• Gym Equipment,
• Sound system for the main hall,
• Refurbishing the old library,
• Contribution towards a Data Projector,
• Blinds for the Junior block cloak room,
• Friendship benches for the playground.
to smaller items like:
• School home readings bags for every child,
• Replacement and additional achievement trophies,
• Art trips for some children,
• French audio tuition course,
• Athletic vests,
• Sports day refreshments,
• Playground equipment,
• Classroom wipe board,
• Visiting Entertainers,
• New books for the Library.
One of our most rewarding events each year is the Christmas trip to the Pantomime. This has proved a roaring success for several years running. We have such a sense of achievement to hear the children talking about it for days afterwards – a sure sign that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Likewise with the provision of coaches for the school trips in the summer term – F.O.L.L.S. gives the children the ‘treats' of school life and relieves the parents of some of the cost involved.
School discos are held at regular intervals throughout the school year. Admission is £1 for infant children and £1.50 for junior children. We run a stall for them to buy sweets, crisps and drinks. Parents are more than welcome to stay with the children if they want to.
F.O.L.L.S. meet about once a month during term time to pool ideas and arrange events – including fashion shows, discos, quiz nights, Summer and Christmas Fairs. We are always in need of new members and helpers so if you would like to find out more about us or perhaps join us one evening, please contact us. You could get involved by just joining our register of ‘helpers' and support an event on the day. You may have a talent which we could make use of (such as face painting, supplier of goods, entertainer, bouncy castle owner etc.) |
